EcoFoodSystems attend DeSIRA Connect Day in Bogotá, Colombia

EcoFoodSystems team member shares latest findings on generating evidence and tools for sustainable food systems in partnership with food system stakeholders in Cali city region

The European Union’s DeSIRA initiative recently held a DeSIRA CONNECT Day for Latin America, and the Caribbean in Bogotá, Colombia from June 25th to 27th, 2024. The event, organised by the EU-funded DeSIRA program, brought together representatives from 70 projects to exchange achievements, share lessons learned, and identify pathways for future collaboration in sustainable agricultural innovation supporting climate and biodiversity goals.

The EcoFoodSystems project, represented by Sara Rankin of Alliance Bioversity International and CIAT, attended the event on June 25th. Sara presented on “The role of science in multi-stakeholder platforms: Joint generation of evidence and tools for action with a food systems approach”. The presentation provided insights on mapping urban food systems, best practice of understanding challenges in production, supply and consumption; the generation of socio-economic, environmental and health benefits for food consumers in Colombia and tools that can be used to analyze and understand food systems.

EcoFoodSystems look forward to the next DeSIRA Connect Day in Hanoi, where our project will share EcoFoodSystems’s latest research findings and innovations regarding transitions to diets that are more health, sustainable and affordable in the Hanoi city region.
